Tuesday, 14th September, 2021 – Payoneer, in close collaboration with Retail Asia, co-organised an online panel discussion titled “APAC’s Digital Evolution: Digital trends that changed the world”. As digital transformation continues to be spurred on by recent events like COVID-19, the panel discussion aims to help digital businesses keep abreast of recent digital trends and gain insights on how to adapt and adjust their cross-border expansion strategy accordingly.

Janio is honoured to be a part of this initiative to encourage the utilisation of omnichannel solutions in the digital world. Senthil Kumar, Janio’s Global Head of Commercial, was invited as a panelist for this round of exchange. Moderated by Tim Charlton, Publisher of Retail Asia, the 1.5-hour event had a main theme on the topic of digital trends and its influence on the APAC scene.

Amongst the other distinguished industry experts who participated in the discussion were Payoneer’s Regional Enterprise VP – Nagesh Devata, ZALORA’s Senior Strategy Director – Quiron Cunha, L’Oréal India’s chief Digital Officer – Anil Chilla and PUC Berhad’s Group CEO – Cheong Chai Chou.

Panellists were posed questions in a round-robin fashion regarding their thoughts on digital trends in the APAC region and how it related to their respective industries, touching on key topics such as evolving payment method tendencies, social commerce and omnichannel solutions, Direct to Consumer (D2C) sales and eCommerce cross-border expansion.

Senthil mentioned that digital transformations brought about by COVID-19 have caused seismic shifts from both a consumer and retailer’s point of view. Apart from the younger audience who were brought up digitally native, middle-aged and senior citizens who are not as exposed to digital concepts have also been looped into the digital ecosystem. To cater to this evolving delivery market, he added that logistic companies should optimise internal process flows by ensuring physical and information flows are in unison. Information will gradually adopt a “push” mechanism, where customers would expect new information to be presented to them instead of proactively seeking it.

Concurring with other panellists, Senthil also shared that customer experience is key in the narrative of digitalisation. Everything from product selection and placement to fulfilment and returns options influence the customer’s impression of the digital purchase process.

He concluded by saying that a reliable eCommerce platform refers to one that provides you with requisite results for your intended outcome. This should align with the key question of how to generate demand for the product of choice in a certain target market. Here, selecting a trustworthy logistics service provider like Janio, who can ship to your desired lanes and cater to your business’s needs at every stage is paramount in determining one’s success in shaping their eCommerce strategy.

Janio would like to thank our partner Payoneer as well as Retail Asia for organizing the online events and are looking forward to future collaborations!
